The context behind the numbers

About Layoff Atlas

Layoff Atlas is an independent public-data project that helps people explore US WARN notices and understand the source, dates and limits behind layoff statistics.

Publishing approach

Published by Layoff Atlas. Government filing values remain linked to their original agency sources. Normalized names, geographic matches and calculated statistics are clearly distinguished from the source record. Licensed secondary records are labeled and attributed separately.

Weekly and monthly reports are original calculations from eligible official records. Their periods, exclusions, unknown counts and downloadable source-linked data make the results reproducible. Reports describe reported plans, not confirmed job losses or a complete national layoff census.

Accountability and contact

Use the Corrections form to contact the project about a filing, report or data-quality issue. Explain the source evidence and affected record; do not submit confidential employee information. Source limitations and failed checks are published on Data Sources.

Layoff Atlas is not affiliated with an employer or state agency. We do not sell job placement, require reader accounts or promise employment outcomes. Advertising is not currently displayed; any future advertising must be labeled and kept separate from government records and our calculations.
